January Is Poverty Awareness Month

As a company that works day in and day out to create and preserve affordable housing in America, we’re deeply aware of the scope and scale of the problem. 11% of the population lives in poverty, and over 500,000 people are facing homelessness each year. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition: 6.8 million more affordable housing units are needed for extremely low-income families; 580,000+ people are experiencing homelessness on any given night; and only 1 in 4 extremely low-income families who need assistance receive it.

At Boston Financial we’re working to close the gap in affordable housing accessibility by continuing to focus our work on equity initiatives that help people get a safe, quality, affordable place to call home. We are proud to support important organizations like National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) that advocate for expanded affordable housing programs at the state and federal level.
